    Well I usually cannot use the paper gaskets with the valley pan, orange rtv silicone around ports & heat crossover - As for the heads, use the 452's - unleaded fuel & flow as good as the 906 .. & find a Good Thermoquad ...     Well my input on the matter: i e always ran "Super Comp Hookers (2-piece jobbies) & I recently got a pair of TTI's - i will NEVER use any header other than TTI's .. ever again - when they say " You get what you pay for" ~ TTI's have it in Spades my friend.

    383 rebuild advice

    If $$ is tight, & you have access to a standard stroke 440 crank & a 400 block - get that line bored for the 440 main, use 6.86 hemi length con. rod - i believe that would be a stout build, using factory available parts

    My . 02¢ would be a pair of 452's - for the unleaded garbage' @ the pumps ~ i believe the intake port floor is also lower in the #346 head (i think, it's been a few years now...) You could also scratch up a pair of 516's -& use factory 2.08 int. & 1.74 exh. -& that will raise your 8.2:1 - 400...
