Thank you, Rishi and SixPackToGo, I believe you have answered my question. I'll probably start on this in January. I have another car I need to work on in the meanwhile.
Thank you, Rishi and MWBird. I know the backing plate is different, I have a power brake backing plate on order.
I have the parts book, it's kinda confusing. I was hoping someone who has done this could tell me what (if anything) is different under the dash and what to do if it is different.
This has probably already been discussed...
I want to convert my 1970 GTX from manual drums to power disk using all original 1970 parts.
1) DO I need to change anything under the dashboard to add the power brake booster? Are there any changes to the linkage under the dash? Any change to...
The vacuum advance on my '70 Plymouth 440/6 has gone out; I need another one.
The engine is stock, I just need one that works and is adjustable, does not have to be NOS or 'correct', just one that works. I looked at the parts suppliers, AutoZone, O'Reilly, etc, no one seems to have one.
Does...
Thank you, OH71Runner & 66Satellite, I've already checked the gasket and the blades are NOT catching on it. It turns freely until I get to a certain amount of torque on the bolts, then it starts binding, gets worse the more I torque the bolts.
Seems that tightening the bolts is causing the...
I removed all three carburetors from my 70 Plymouth Six-Pack for refurbishing. All went well, I put the front and center carburetors back on, no problems at all.
I can't get the back carburetor to work, it starts binding as soon as I tighten the bolts down. Both the manifold and carburetor...
I have a '70 GTX with the four-speed. The reverse lockout/ignition interlock is missing, so I bought the parts from Brewer.
The parts book and service manual don't give a lot of info.
Would someone have the time to get under a car and snap some pictures of the reverse lockout/ignition...
Thank you, R413 and PlymHemi.
I suppose those linkage parts are next to impossible to find. I would imagine that linkage got tossed on most of these cars whenever the transmission was serviced or rebuilt. Most owners probably found the interlock to be annoying.
I'll see if Brewer's...
Please take a look at the attached photo; What is the purpose of the flange on the steering column? It's silver in this picture.
I'm assuming it's part of the shift linkage on a column shift automatic car. But what purpose would it serve on a four speed manual car and why would a four speed...
Thank you, Jerry, Pikster, and SureGrip.
I bought the car in 2014, never had any problems with the rear, never did anything with the rear other than check the fluid. The car was restored in the late 80's, the rear was rebuilt at that time. The car has been driven approximately 25K miles...
Thank you, Jerry & Pikster.
I bought the car in 2014, never had any problems with the rear, never did anything with the rear other than check the fluid.
Sadly, I'm not a mechanic or rear expert, I probably would not be able to see anything out of order or know what to look for.
My '70 Plymouth GTX has the 3.54 Dana rear. I'm now hearing a clicking, popping noise, sounds like it's coming from the rear, but not sure. It's continous, even when just rolling (clutch in) at low speeds.
Drove the car some 10 miles or so, got it warmed up, sound got louder. Let the car sit...
Thank you MoparLeo, YY1, and 33Imp, agreed with all you say. I'm in the process of switching the left side of the car to right hand threads. (I'm working a job, so I can only devote so much time to this.)
