My Dad had one - in a '66 Chevy cabover straight truck! Parking brake was shot and this was super-cheap alternative.
BTW, the straight truck was one he converted from a Budweiser delivery truck - it still had the little plastic "Bud Man" on the dash with the waving hand on a spring for most of...
The recipes work - pretty good, actually.
The all-steel wagon shown in my avatar was built around the 12 second recipe and routinely ran 12.50's.
Stock '70 440 rotating assembly, 284/484 purpleshaft, ported 906's, M1, 750 DP, "J" converter, 4.10's. Did it all on pump 91.
