First of all, what did you change to fix the over heating issue?
Did you touch the timing?
Did you loose oil pressure at any stage?
If you're suspecting that overheating damaged the motor, do a compression test.
I'm not sure if you've seen it but there's another crack heading south south west from the plug.
Because there's a second crack, I would not stitch it. I would widen the crack and JB weld it. If that fails, I would get a new block.
That's a good point and I ran a new shielded wire a few years ago. That's the first thing I checked and there are no breaks in the wire.
