I had similar problems with the hydraulic rollers in the 440 in my Savoy. An engine builder friend of mine suggested I needed to check the end play in the cam. He added that the stock Mopar timing covers are notoriously flexible. I changed to this timing cover and carefully set the end play...

I spent most of my career working for an OE and aftermarket auto parts supplier. China is capable of making good stuff. They make iPhones, iPads and many computers. If given a set of specifications, and being measured against those specs, they can produce quality. Some companies, like NAPA...

Just a thought, are your fans pulling air through the radiator or pushing?

My '62 convertible had a .060 over 440 with AC. I used the factory radiator, shroud, fan and fan clutch. With a 180 thermostat it never exceeded 180 idling or on the highway.

Does it depend on how long the car sits? Ten percent ethanol causes starting problems with my old cars after a couple of weeks.

For some reason Irving finds napping on the couch with his head resting on a table is comfortable.
