I just located the pics below. They suggest the headliner completely covered it and the sail panel was uncovered. There were the clips that were in it. I have no reason to believe someone replaced them/removed the headliner prior, it's been in the family for 45+ years...
Adding on to Dave's thread. The pic below is what I'm 99% sure was holding my sail panels in place.
My sail panels are light brown and warped. I didn't see any remnants of covering on them, so I'm assuming they were uncovered. Looking online the "uncovered" ones are all one color (dark) - does...
I baked mine in the grill & it's fine. Put foil on the grill before heating it up and baking them.
I know folks have said the factory didn't use gaskets for the exhaust manifolds; however, do most people add them now? I'm getting ready to bolt them on soon and have gaskets as part of a engine...
The car comes back from metal, body, & paint late Dec - Jan, then reassembly will take 3-6 months Seat belts can be easily replaced later, so I'll try to clean up mine and wait.
It's a plastic or similar coating that is peeling off - even if I paint it won't be right.
However, Sharon's Web got back to me and estimated $1350 to restore them - ouch!! I guess I'll clean them up and see what I'm really dealing with first.
