This is a foam speaker enclosure. If you make a hard box to enclose the speakers you risk 'tuning' to a certain frequency that could ruin the sound quality. You can Google 'tuning a subwoofer box ' to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

I think those are thinner than the Chrysler hockey puck and would need to be doubled or tripled up.

I think it will be fine, but I would definitely test for rear wheel lock up before serious driving. If there is an issue it can be corrected with either a smaller wheel cylinder or an adjustable proportioning valve.
