I’m going to flush the block and radiator fully then. My 91 Nissan with 262,000 miles still has most of its original antifreeze in it. I’ve changed the water pump and thermostat once, then topped it of with some fresh coolant. Still runs good and cool.
I didn’t use antifreeze, but used some water wetter years ago. I also used tap water some before, so now I’m getting somewhat optimistic. Thank you all for the good info! I’ll have updates soon….
I am not wanting to change radiators yet. I just want to drive the car. I’ve never heard of a coolant filter though? Like I stated, I’ll open the oil drain plug a tad to see if any water comes out, since it’ll be at the bottom of the pan. If no water present, I’ll fire it up after priming float...
I have a new aluminum radiator waiting…. But what’s this sludge? I’m going to pull the oil drain plug tomorrow, and see if any water comes out. If not, I’m going to fire it up and see what happens.
Maybe that’s when they learned about oil passages? AI for certain. I do like the old footage, albeit loaded with backwards photos, a few Max Wedges, a 409 Chevy, a straight 6 and lots of SBC’s. Meh… but, don’t forget the Hemi had literally 34 less CI than the competition back in the early 70’s...
My 69 RR 496 hasn’t been fired up in over a year now. Just got through topping of tires and trickle charging. Then I cleaned the surface mildew from the interior. Go to check the water and I can’t quite see any in the radiator. I add a few cups, and now it’s present, but with these little...
If you want handling buy a late model car?? My RR has the stage 3 firm feel box and it handles very well. I really enjoy showing up sports cars in the twisties.
If you want the stock box, go for it. I dumped mine ASAP, as it gave no feedback through the wheel, and just seemed way to overpowered.
I didn’t have to massage my tunnel much on my 69 rr for the GV overdrive. I only use it after drive, not between gears. I’ve got 3.54 gears, and the GV drops the rpm’s quite a bit. I mounted the switch on my shifter, so it’s very convenient. It shifts very hard. If you’re not under load and...
So no leaf flex, but the leaning of the car huh? My car is very stiff. Mopar HD biased springs, KYB shocks and a 3/4 sway bar, so it doesn’t lean much. Maybe the rub marks are from me driving fast with 4 people. I’m gonna drive it soon solo and see if it rubs.
It’s a 69 rr. The reason I’m worried is because when I removed the MT 275 50s, I noticed tire rub marks on the inside of the wheel well. I’m assuming the leafs must flex some.
