Looks like some kind of Mopar shell front end to the front of the Ford Tempo and another Mopar body to th erear of the Tempo - so the widow might have called the salvage yard to pick up the stuff....
Like most have said - 1968 did not have matching body stamping with the VIN ! The fender tag SO # will/should match the radiator support and trunk seal rail. 1969 was the first year ALL those stampings matched the vin. Consider yourself lucky to have your VIN and motor/trans match.
Wonder if those formed area's are the same front to back - so to speak - you could cut out and turn around even from another year ? Just thinking outside the trunk.....
Yep.....one of the buddies I had through school dad owned a Plumbing shop with vans and such and low and behold Rodney shows up in a pretty green/white new Dodge window van....funny thing is his dad's shop van's were all red with no windows.....we all knew allready o'Rod had a silver...
