Looks like some kind of Mopar shell front end to the front of the Ford Tempo and another Mopar body to th erear of the Tempo - so the widow might have called the salvage yard to pick up the stuff....

Like most have said - 1968 did not have matching body stamping with the VIN ! The fender tag SO # will/should match the radiator support and trunk seal rail. 1969 was the first year ALL those stampings matched the vin. Consider yourself lucky to have your VIN and motor/trans match.

Your a winner....chicken dinner.....kinda rare but that's how my 1968 Formula S 340 has it stamped.....

Between the Silver Bullet and the Black Challenger - maybe there was a little respect.......
