I was named after my grandfathers.
It was either George Silas, or Joseph Eldridge.
I'm Joe.
Mom wanted William - but her brother, also William (Bill), just thought "like that" and said I'd be Billy Goats my whole life. (Last name Goetz; say "gets". The most common mispronunciation? You...
I don't mind Go-Wings or scoops on RRs or other Mopars...but IMO the second gen Charger looks just wrong with any of that. The body is so perfect as it is...don't muck it up. I don't even like the R/T door scoops on '70s, they hide some of the best side body lines on the car (the scallops)...
Hard lines should still be there. One small hard line running to the engine = no return. Two hard lines = yes return. They look like brake lines.
The vent line doesn't go to chassis at all, only from the filler neck to the tank.
The line(s) going to the sending unit will be 5/16".
Vent tube is more like 3/4".
Look under your car. Are there one, or two, "fuel hoses" going to where the sending unit would be (center vehicle, in front of the rear axle)? That will tell you if you need one for, or without, a return line.
Run it below 1/4 tank and pull your existing unit. It won't make a mess. You can do it with the rear of the car on frame jackstands, with the axle drooping. I replaced the one in my '70 last year this way - no mess, no drips, plenty of space. All you need is a large flathead screwdriver and a...
Not every 2G Charger has to be a General Lee.
Let it go.
The guy I got my '70 from - he had it less than 6 months, bought it from the estate of the original owner - had already painted Mopar Performance valve covers orange and put them on it; had already painted the air cleaner orange; and had...
Probably the same thing that killed my old XJ - a weak injector. A partial shot of fuel doesn't wait until the plug fires; it's "lean" and will detonate. Detonation as the piston comes up, is the rattle you hear...and it equates to smacking the top of the piston with a sledgehammer, every time...
You should be able to get a replacement drain plug, either from Mopar or at an auto parts store. Get one with a magnet on it (you'll see why).
I'm willing to bet the pan threads are fine; worst case you may need to run a tap through them before installing the new drain plug. Get a...
Michelle and I took her jeep to a show at Carlisle. Wow, what a difference 7 days can make. Low 80s, overcast/part sun. Very nice. She got sunvisors she's needed, got a locking trunk for top-down, and I bought Aussie lockers for front and back on my tj. Show prices were awesome - both units...
