Hey Guys,
When I bought my 1969 Charger a few years ago, someone had switched out the manual transmission that it was born with...and replaced it with an automatic.
It's time to switch it back.
I've got the manual trans, shifter, bell housing, z-bar, and flywheel. The clutch pedal is...
Hey guys...thank you so much for all of your help and advice! I ended up having to return the first light that I bought, as it had a short in it. I finally had a chance to try the new one out tonight.
I have it dialed in to about 10-12 BTDC now. It's running *better*, but methinks there are...
Ok guys...I am ready to attempt to time my 1969 383. Currently, it has a 750 Edelbrock that is leaking vacuum (going to replace it soon...I hope), an MSD Blaster coil, and a standard distributor. I'm at about 6,000 feet above sea level in Colorado. I'm using an advanced timing light.
I've...
You know Robby, I was thinking the same thing about the positive cable. Pretty sure it's the original & I know it's sort of ratty.
I checked the battery a week or two ago..am getting a little over 12V there with the old cable. Didn't check the alt, but will this weekend.
Vacuum is...
Thank you all for the nice comments! Yeah, the 'ol girl was pretty rough when I got her. The guy who did the work basically did it for fun (and let me help him a little...wonderful learning experience!!).
The paint on the car when I got it was in three coats...the original pea-green, Dukes...
Ok, cool...thank ya! The trans tech seemed to think that the carb wasn't able to get full throttle from the current setup. He put a Lokar kick-down unit in there which seemed to help a little, but I don't believe it settled the WOT issue.
The car is going to be mostly mothballed until...
Greetings all,
I've already posted a couple of questions, but thought I'd take time to introduce myself real quick...
My name is Pete, and I live in Colorado. I'm an audio engineer by day.
I bought my 1969 Charger in 2003, and it's been a real adventure. The car was basically held...
Brought my Charger into the shop recently for some transmission repair, and the tech believes I may have the wrong throttle bracket on my car (which I would believe, considering all of the other surprises I've had). He thinks it is for a smaller block, which would explain some of the problems...
Tried to find a friend with a timing light today, but no luck...can't afford to shell out $200 for one right now. I might just have to mothball the car until spring or until I can find one to use. Was hoping my local O'Reilly's Auto Parts would include timing lights in there tool rental program...
Thanks Prop! Just so you know:
Fuel:
-Replaced the fuel sender (twice)...it's sending out the right reading via ohms.
-Fuel tank grounded
-Sending unit grounded (both grounds checked, cleaned with steel wool & lightly lubed)
-Brand new calibrated gauge
After what you said about...
cut wires too
As I was rooting around under the dash, I noticed a couple of wires that have been cut...long before I got the car. Don't know if they're related to my electrical issues (could something be improperly grounded??). I have no idea where these would go. You're looking at the steering...
Well, here's what I have replaced on my car in the last 2 weeks:
1. Coil
2. Ballast Resistor (matches coil)
3. Voltage Regulator (engine bay)
4. Engine Ground Strap
5. Cluster Voltage Regulator
6. Ground Strap from Fuel Sender to Fuel Line
I tested the fuel sending wire at the sending unit as...
