Is there a good way to remove these emblems without breaking them or the studs? My paint underneath needs some work and I figure I'll touch them up while they're off...
Wow, good eye! Indeed when I pulled the tach unit out of the glove box it had a "JC" on the back of it and I wasn't sure what it was! I've been working mainly on mechanical items for the past week or so, but will likely move back to electronics soon. I greatly appreciate the help and massive...
Thanks for the data point - it seems most people who have actually run a block like this with decent cooling haven't had issues, and those wagging their fingers at the idea recount tall tales of total meltdowns. I'm going to go for it!
Airflow is also something good to consider - thanks again.
Well, I suppose the fill is up to the bottom of the freeze plugs if you're looking at the block upside-down.
It looks like it's about 3-3.5" down on the outer part of the block and about 3.5-4" down on the inner/valley side. Now I'm going to have to do some serious thinking. Is the better...
After hefting some 906's off of my block earlier in the week and picking up a single-head shipping box yesterday, my guess would be ~half. I'll see if I can throw the TF on my scale later.
That's what I was told, but I haven't had a chance to inspect it closely as of yet. I was slithering around in my crawlspace yesterday, but hopefully I'll get into the garage today!
That's what I'm thinking - and I'm going to give it a shot. My car already has a small oil cooler on it, so that should help too. Oregon doesn't get *that* hot.
Usually doesn't go much higher than 90. I'm sure with an oil cooler it'll be absolutely fine...and btw I did go and pick it up! It's in a great shape, and the couple selling it had a whole Mopar playground...definitely a good set of contacts to have. Now I have to decide if I'm going to use the...
That's exactly my concern...though from what I've read up to the bottom of the plugs *should* be ok. In the end though, this block plus those caps for about half of just what the caps usually run might be too good to pass up.
Not to mention that this was someone locally prepping a race motor vs...
Hi everyone, I'm just getting started on building up a 440 for my 66 charger and picked up a decent shape 440/727 combo last week. This week a 440 block that's been hot tanked, bored .030 over and line honed, and had the deck leveled popped up on Craigslist for a great price including a set of...
Fuel gauge is currently out of commission. I dumped a few gallons in and didn't realize I must have blown through it while setting my idle mixture and topping off/burping the coolant.
I plan on doing a new tank and likely an electric pump for an efi system in the not too distant future.
Hey everyone...haven't checked in for a few weeks. I tried to get down to the DMV with the Charger this morning and it was running great until it wasn't running at all. I coasted into a parking lot, luckily, where it's sitting now. I dumped in a gallon of gas with no change, and there was a...
Definitely in the plan! I'm used to motorcycles where this is much more common...and at least I don't have to deal with shim-style adjustments! I also wouldn't mind checking under the valve covers for how much crud is built up, if any. In any case, I decided on a Proform HEI distributor which...
You guys are awesome. I'll peek in behind the radio and see if that support is back there and I just missed it, otherwise I'll grab that one. My tach isn't functional so I'm probably going to look into RTE's unit for that, too.
First things first, though, I'll be rigging up a new throttle...
