Thanks BeatersRus for your help so far.
Well, I purchased a slant six engine and trans from an 83 D150 and, unfortunately, not a super six.
And I didn't realize that it was a 727 till I got to working on it a few days later. I know that many B bodies came with 727's so it'll fit.
I'm a bit...
Thanks Vandan, but the old 3 speed manual is ready to give up, lol. So I need to figure something out quick if I want to use it as my daily this summer. And ya, shipping would be a killer
Thanks for the quick reply. So, what's so bad about the non super six? The engine in my 63 is a 225 single bbl, and it runs great. I imagine that the later model may have a few less hp, but is there any other reason to avoid it?
Thanks again, Wally.
Good day folks.
I can't find a push button 904 and shifter setup for my 63 Plymouth, so I'm going to buy a used slant six engine with a 904 automatic from an 83 D150. I know I'll have to get the drive shaft modified to fit, and plenty of other mods. I was wondering if I can use a points...
Thanks Mike. I went through it already, it's quite healthy inside actually, nothing rubbing, bushings and insulation still good.
So I'm guessing then, no updated starters for this old boy?
Hi folks, and Happy New Year!
My 63 Savoy has a direct drive starter. Is there anything later that will fit? This old feller doesn't want to crank very fast when it's cold, lol. Kind of like me.
Thank you, Wally.
Anyone know if the 61 904 trans will work in a 63? Both are slant six. I haven't looked under the 61 yet, but I think it will have a park brake on the back. Can I just unbolt that and carry on?
Thanks for any help, Wally
Are the 61 to 65 bolt on flange slant six 904's the same length?
Thanks, Wally.
I should add that I've found a trans for sale from a 61 that I hope will fit my 63.
