i was thinking about it the other day is there somebody making fiberglass doors for a 66-67 b body that you can use the factory windows and crank mech. i seen some fiberglass doors awhile back ago but the only draw back was you would have to use lexan windows in them. just curious trying to make the car lighter, but still keeping it street legal. so far ive got a fiberglass lift off hood with hemi scoop, as far as the inside goes ive removed the heater box, radio, all of the ac stuff, back seat, windsheild wipers and wiper motor, the only thing on the inside is two front bucket seats and still have the dash and gauges still in it, and a roll cage. i was almost thinkin putting in a lexan front window but ive heard they scratch up real easy beside that all off my glass is real nice good shape. anybody out there who has gone through the same situation please share with me your ideas how to cut out extra weight go as light that you can but keep in mind this car will be driven on good days only, with some going to the track twice a month. :wav::wav::3gears:

just located some fenders and my bumpers in fiberglass so iam thinkin at this point do ya think i should still go after some doors or would it be considered a bit over kill.

i'm not a big fan of the fiberglass doors. fenders, bumpers, hoods, decklids yes, but opening and closing fiberglass doors just dont feel right.

you have a good point i may just leave the doors alone i might just do the fenders, bumpers, and the hood and just call it good that in it self has to make the car alot lighter than what is now ( all steel) do you think i should do a trunk lid to or just stay with the above plan?

have you ever lifted a glass door off a vette. i am willing to bet 2 beers they are as heavey as a steel door if not heavier.

Most of the weight of a door is in the glass, regulators, and tracks. Buy running lexan and deleting the tracks and regulators you can remove 30/40 LB from just one door. Putting all that stuff back on a glass door will not shave much weight.

I my self would not bother if it is a street car or even a light dutty drag car. Full race only. Never seen a glass door that let you run stock glass. No point to it. lexan only. And from what I have been told they kind of suck. Not made very well and wou.ld not hold up very well to street use.

been thinking about it and iam probably just going to do the front clip but leave everything else alone that way i can still have normal doors still roll down besides i went to the garage today and looked over the doors real good and was amazed how well they open and shut i dont think i could bring myself to mess them up by putting on glass doors that probably dont open and close all that great and have a lousy fit.
