I am planning to send some parts to the plater to get redone. Any thoughts on how to break down the driver side mirror? I dont believe I can send it with the mirror still in the housing.

thanks

the cable will come loose from the remote end, just pull the metal sheath back and unhook one cable at a time pull it like a spring to clear the recess that holds it in place and then unscrew the screw from the mirror base inside the mirror mount and slide it out

that advice was perfect. Here are some pics after I got the unit dissassembled. You will need a bit of muscle and a small flat head screw driver....

a question... does anyone know if the round glass piece can be purchased seperately?

Did you mark the cables where they came off? Not that's it's critical, but if you put them back in different places, it won't operate the same as it did.

They are color coded, look carefully.

cool. Will check that tonight

any ideas on how to restore the glass?

I'm not a huge fan of Chinese parts, but you do know they repro the whole mirror assy, right? On the mirror itself, I'm not sure, maybe you can uncrimp the aluminum around the edge and replace the glass. I have to do this soon myself and I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle it.
