Hello from Pa Barn Find Survivor 69 Charger RT

Welcome to the site. Nice score, that car looks like a nice solid original piece. Without knowing your budget, resto shops=large investment, I would try to get it running and see what else it needs to be road worthy. If all it needs is a hot battery, fluids changed out, engine oiling system primed, and some new gas to get it running, that is where I would start. Brake job, front end rebuild, shocks, may be needed. It may need the tank boiled or replaced, I would start it on a fuel can first. After some cleaning it may be presentable as it is, just wax it up and keep inside in a garage/shop. Cars are only original once and seems that cars like yours are gathering as much attention as fully restored cars at shows and cruise-ins. Drive it like that for a while and if you choose the full "frame-ON" , our cars are uni-body, not full frame, then you can always do that later after finding all the parts and such you will need for a full resto. I like cars with patina and yours looks straight and solid enough as is to be proud of as a "Street Survivor"! Good luck with it and keep us posted

concur with this.

enjoy and study ... don't jump the gun. that's a geat find! Welcome to FBBO friend

Welcome, I am with the majority and feel that the car is more valuable origanal than restored, great find

Nice find, congrats! What matters is what YOU wish to do with it. What your budget will allow, and where you want the car to take you, and you take the car? Cars this old have rust, and, sadly, being in PA this car likely has it rusting pretty good! Evaluate your skill sets, tool inventory, time to work on it, work space, etc., this will help decide what to do. Or, you can send it down here to TX as a very reputable, fair and honest MOPAR shop www.paintshop101.com, I'll be getting it then to media blast it if you came this way, go back to original, semi original, or wild and crazy!

I just love seeing these car(s) that have been sitting up in year(s) ( some better than others ) ...

Indeed a Great Find in your case, and wonderful shape .....

And the stories behind them if they could tell US ...

I'm with these guys. I wouldn't do a full resto on an original car that is in that good of condition without cleaning it up as much as possible and seeing what she looks like. Be interesting to see if that vinyl top can be cleaned. It might need replacing. I'm not a big fan of vinyl tops( especially white ones) but like Budnicks says, that's JMHFO. Welcome to FBBO.

Not sure if I am doing this correctly and what is Multi-quote. Here is some pictures of my car. Oh I guess I decided to retore it, the original pictures made it look really super nice but I felt it was not showable with a lot of body scratches. With that being said here is where I am at with the project. I have also asked for some input on adding AC, a great sound system, and a healthy motor with torque and HP and realibilty for distance, no over heating. Dude the under body looks better than allot of "restored" cars out there

I am hoping to take it to the mopar nationals at Columbus Ohio in August.

Let's see, you've had it for barely a month and you're already at this stage? I'd guess that I'll be shaking your hand next to this Charger at the Mopar Nats this year.

that is one of the most solid chargers i have ever seen! has it been up that way it's whole life?

Yes that would be nicto meet. I am planning on driving it there, she is not going to be a trailer queen.

Yes sir, and if you would of seen the **** hole it was stored in this makes no sense. The old garage was built into a hillside with some old flatstone as the wall in the back filled with moisture. Check out the pictures in the beginning post.

Awesome car. I'm in Pittsburgh as well, right near you in plum boro. Where did you take it for the restoration?

Plum Boro I had cousin that grew up in Holiday Park the Gilkey boys. You going to the World of wheels show this weekend.

Wow - that car does'nt look like it has hardly even seen a rain shower, much less salt. Great find, should be a very easy restoration.

Welcome aboard, and I don't know what I got more of a kick from... seeing your Charger or seeing Vandergrift, PA. :) I'm a former Plum guy living in FL now, and I don't think I've seen a reference to Vandergrift in about 30 years. Brings back a lot of memories!

Car looks great, but I wouldn't get hung up on making it too perfect for shows. I've entered my Road Runner into four shows, and it's a long way from perfect. It will never win best of show, or most original, but it gets tons of attention from visitors and other owners and makes me proud to say it's mine. :) You don't need loads of chrome or perfect paint to show, just a nice car that people want to see.

No I'm going to miss it unfortunately, I'm going to Detroit for the auto show. While you're there, stop and talk to the guy with the two burnt orange mopars, a 70 challenger rt 440+6 and a 70 GTX 440+6, his name is John and he's a great guy to know if you live in Pittsburgh and are into mopars, along with his buddy Lou. John specializes in e body cars and parts while Lou is the b body guy, probably has anything you'd need for your charger. Just say Dave referred you.
