I hate to waste "stuff" and I was in the need for a smaller sanding disc. Here is what I came up with: I take the 7" disc and cut it down into smaller disc's. I normally use a drafting compass to make the circle's. The sharp point marks the center of the disc in order to drill a hole in the center to mount the disc to my drill then the pencil that is mounted to the compass marks the outside of the new disc. Murphy's law prevailed and I broke the darn compass. So, I used a plastic cap off of a spray paint can. The cap that I used had a mark in the center of the cap which I drilled out using a 1/4 inch drill bit. This hole is used to mark the center of the new disc and the outside of the cap is the size of the new disc. I can get at least 4 new disc's out of the 7" disc. And it doesn't matter what grit disc you use or what size you make the new disc's. (I have made several different sizes)

The smaller disc's come in handy grinding down weld, body filler, paint etc in hard to reach places.

I have a photo of the adapter that I mount the disc's to and then apply it into the chuck of the drill.

I also mounted two disc's back to back to sand the vents in the cowl on one of my cars, sure beats using a paint stir stick with sand paper wrapped around the paint stick to sand this PIA area.

I have cut the edges off also but the need for a smaller disc prompted this idea. Thanks

Here's a thought why not sharpen a priece of pipe and use a press and die cut them out.
