Does anyone know if they ever made an actual oil pressure gauge, not a light, for 66/67 B body Plymouths and Dodges. It would seem if you bought a 67 GTX you'd like to have a gauge rather than a light that told you your oil
pressure is now non-existent. Just wondering.

Well the first thing I would do is to install a temporary oil pressure gauge on your motor to see if you have good pressure and don't run it till you do.
If all is well then start experimenting with the different types of oil pressure gauges/lights for your year & model.

Thanks, but I was just wondering if Mopar ever made a gauge rather than a light for inside the cluster for the 66/67 model years. I'd prefer to know what the engine is doing as it's doing it. Thanks again for the reply. Always good advice.

Good question VFilms....
I just picked up a 67 GTX (440)
I see no gage
BUT, we can PM certain GTX owners to see what they say...

Did you do any research on this or is this your first step in that process?

NOTE: I just did some research on this matter.
A book written by Jim Schild all avbout the 66-67 Satellites, Belvederes and the 67 GTX.
NO GAGE
an excerpt from the book:
"The 1967 Satellite and GTX hardtop and convertible interiors were trimmed ... the
speedometer, and the ammeter gauge and oil pressure light were to the right"

I am interested in what you find. There is some time now that I will be taking a cluster down to bare bones to clean and refurbish. This would be the time to replace the light with a real gauge pressure gauge.

I'm going to see if I can find a similar MOPAR oil pressure gauge and try to adapt it to an original 66/67 housing. Perhaps I can get the companies who print the faces to print an oil pressure gauge face and build one from scratch. I'll post if I'm successful.

easier way would be to get another fuel or temp gauge and change the face letters...then hook it up to a "pressure" sender and it should work. All the gauges back then were the same inside, just the face was changed for each sender

This is why I get out of bed each day. I learn something new. That's a great idea. I have an extra cluster with all the gauges. I also do GFX design so it shouldn't be hard to recreate a new oil pressure face. I'm going to give that a shot and let you know. Thanks for the idea!

I read somewhere, I think it was this forum, that someone found a factory electrical oil pressure gauge for a 68 B-body Non-ralley gauge cluster, it went in place of the clock...

yea, I did a search, and no, I didn't find the thread....

(damn)

Question then. If we could find a gauge that would fit in the cluster somewhere, would the existing connector at the engine, it's wiring system back to the electrial connection at the back of the cluster, still function for this "new" purpose on the cluster without modifications? Kinda doubt it.

If you are able to install a pressure gauge inplace of the 'idiot light', you would simply need to change the sending unit in the motor from a warning light type to a pressure gauge type. The wire itself doesn't care what it's hooked to.
