Hi there, has any one out there had issues with RPM performer alloy heads and number 2 cylinder spark plug fouling on hooker 1/78" competition headers, I'm considering sourcing shorty spark plugs before modifying right side header. The engine is a 400B based 512 cubic inch stroker in a 1970 dodge coronet superbee. Any suggestions?

I'd get the shorty plugs,
I've had a few sets of RPM heads, not ever with the Hooker Headers thou,
Had TTI's, Heddman's & Dougs with no issues thou,
with the correct angles on the plug wires & DEI wire sheath's for added protection/safety

welcome to FBBO

you might want to post this question/s
in the general discussion, general Mopar tech, engine trans & drive train
or the racers hang out forum sections

this is the welcome wagon, mainly for intros, a few background or personal details
& photos. not really a tech forum question & answer section...good luck

By fouling you mean arcing?

By fouling, I think he means 'rubbing, or touching" - maybe a space issue between header tube and spark-plug body - that Hooker header may not be designed to use with RPM heads??? :thinker:

BTW, welcome aboard from across the ditch in NZ :hello2:

The guys that built my engine dented the number 2 primary for that same reason. I have the performer RPM heads and 1 7/8 Hooker Competition headers as well. IMG_0458.jpg

Thanks mate, that's the exact problem I have, if the header design was the same as the left side it would be sweet. I have dented the number 2 pipe slightly but I think I'll try shorty plugs and better plug wire insulators
thanks again!

none of my bees-wax but i would of tried shorty plugs before i dented. just saying.

Common problem with the cheaper Hookers. Have seen their 2" comps with no clearance problems at all.

hi and welcome to the site :headbang:

Short plugs or you can get some good boot covers, I have a set from dei I put on my 440 with hooker super comps 2".
