bumper rechrome

Ya a friend of mine found a place relatively close to Chicago. That's suppose to be reasonable and good. Ill see what they have to say
 
I just got a quote from Ogden chrome for my 70RR bumpers. $655 each for show chrome. They pay shipping to and from. 2-3 weeks
 
keystone $440.00 front bumper. They pay shipping one way. Show quality guarantied for life.
 
that price is pretty much for a perfect core. But I contacted about 5 companies and they all said the same thing. Base price is this any extras are more. They all said no way of giving a 100% quote without seeing the parts.

X2. Tri city brought me some bumpers to Carlisle that I thought looked like crap. I gave them my really nice cores and I got great looking bumpers back.

Most of the work and cost is in making a straight, nice looking bumper. If your core looks like crap, don't expect show quality chrome for a bargain - it won't happen. If your cores are nice, then you are in good shape. Straightening bumpers takes good metal work skill and time - only there is no Bondo allowed. A guy with that skill that wants to make a decent wage just like you and me, so it gets expensive.

If your bumpers are bad either you need to pay more for nice cores, pay more to have your crappy bumpers cleaned up and fixed, or live with less than perfect bumpers.

I'm not trying to be a downer here, just being realistic...

Hmmm must make a difference in who you talk to. My bumpers are not cherry at all, and I was told they will come back looking like new. The reason that the 64 Dodge front bumper is higher cost than the rear is because it is bigger and has more complex area to be done. The cost of chrome plating is in direct with the amount and difficult of the polishing..................................MO

I used Ogden chrome, it was much less expensive 2 years ago. My car is on their facebook page. Talk to Jose.

I would stay away from bumper boys. Saw their crappy work at good guys show here. Still haven't figured out how they only chromed one side of a bumper and painted over rust on the underside, it was very poor quality.
 
Got my 1962 Polara front bumper from tri city and picked them up at Mopar Nationals they are there every year just call ahead $450.
Get to go to the show and save shipping money.
They will rechrome yours or you can exchange and you can inspect it there.
