How do you react to people with kids at car shows that let their kids climb and hang on your car or the moron that leans against your car

This usually stops them.

Thats a big no no. Ive never personally witnessed anything that i can recall, but ive heard stories of people actually opening the door and getting in cars. I myself let a kid in my car at a show once. He was very young, 5 or under, and he a model that was exactly like my car. He was very excited to see the 1:1 scale version. I let him sit behind the wheel and get his picture. That was a good day at a local cruise.

If I'm by my car and a kid wants to look inside, I'm happy to open the door and let the kid sit in the driver's seat. Kids get a kick out of that, plus who knows? I may have just created a new Mopar fan! BUT, this applies ONLY if I'm by the car and I let the kid sit in the car!!! I've noticed that MOST parents are cognizant of when their kids start to want to touch and climb, they'll usually stop the kid beforehand. But occasionally, I'll have to crack the whip and yell at a kid AND a parent.

What pisses me off more is the ADULTS that ride their damn bicycles through the venue, thinking they own the place and can do whatever they want because they are so "green" and all that! The pretentious bastards can WALK their bikes around while they look!!!

I always put signs in the windows, look but don't touch. That usually works. If not, I point out the sign to them. If that still doesn't work, then resort to Habib's method !!!!!! :elmer:

If there's a kid looking at the car and "respecting" it (not touching drooling so on) I'll let him or her get in and try it on as a reward. If the kid comes up and starts playing with the car with out asking first they don't get to play with it. Same with adults. I'm prity easy going my cars arnt high dollar cars there ment to be enjoyed so if I can make someone s day I will , unless there *** holes then there asked to step away .
Also I agree with the bike thing . Our clubs car show won't let any bikes in because one time a guy on a bike ran into a 32 Ford that was pulling out scratched the he'll out of the front fender hood and running board.

depends on the situation as I have not gotten excited about a little one that tries to look inside and uses the top of the door to peak in.(as long as their shoes/feet don't bang the door) Usually a grownup will handle it and screaming or yelling doesn't fix it. Ice cream and fingerprints wipe off. NOW....here's a beauty for you

My son and I had almost matching 69 camaro's.....went to a cruise...packed cruise, so we parked off to a side lot and went to look around. Upon return, there was a huge overweight woman sitting on my son's passenger front fender...talking to a few guys. I go up to her and ask WTF is wrong with youl and what does she do...gets off my son's car and plops her fat @$$ on mine....that's when I lost it completely

That's when you use the cattle Praud.

Hang signs on the car when you set up for the show. something to the effect

UNLESS YOU:

*Are a server at Hooter's and on break
*Are wearing a Bikini
*Are Jennifer Anniston
*Have my permission
*Have written me a check in the agreed upon amount of purchase

DO NOT TOUCH THE CAR

So now the plan is to ban the disabled, ban the kids and ban what else from looking at OUR old junk???

The kids are the future of our hobby.

The disabled, LIKE MYSELF, cannot help their disability.

How about being polite, kind and civil....maybe even compassionate?

I have a small machine shop and used to do quite a bit of work for others and you would be amazed what some dad's do when they bring their kids with them. Besides most of the things mentioned here at shows, some parents have brought their kids with them to my shop and just turn them loose. I had to tell one guy who brought his young daughter (looked to be 5 or 6) bare foot to not let her down to run around the place.....3 TIMES!! Finally told him to just leave.

Never had a problem at a show but have let curious kids sit in it, my problems have been around drunks (idiots)! I think most get uptight at shows but my car is a driver and I don't go crazy polishing it up but instead enjoy the cruising involved in getting to the show and then spend my time looking at cars instead of polishing mine or watching over it. Keep it fun and remember what it was like before you owned one yourself.

my fiberglass hood is cracked from a moron resting his fat *** on my hood;

Ewwwwww, now that would piss a fello off!

In my case my attitude has already taken me to the dark side, after experiencing many of the previous posts. I never show my car, anymore.Unless I'm driving it. It's hard to sit on a moving object. Sorry about the bad attitude!
