Hello, I found this 1972 Road Runner for sale on craigslist. Seller says it's all numbers-matching car. The ad does not provide any pics of the under hood data plate, nor the engine partial VIN pad showing the characters.
The car is almost 200 miles away from me so I was wondering before I invest time and travel to see for myself, was the 1972 Road Runner available with a 440 without having it be a GTX? My research so far shows that you could only get the 440 in a Road Runner in 1972 only with the GTX package. I'd assume the seller would know if they had a GTX or not and advertise if they did.
The price seems really good if all the info is true and it's not a total rust bucket. But if it's not numbers-matching I wouldn't be interested in it.
