Weeping heater hose

Mine did that too. Only when it sat for months not running in the winter. Summer time they where dry as a bone never lost any coolant. (Until the heater core went)

Just ran home mix of prestone green coolant. No uphill leaks on mine, no puddles no coolant smell or steam they just seemed to sweat. Mine where a local parts store brand of heater hose.

Well it's just not mine then, when I'm daily driving it their fine also.

If you would wipe them off with a white rag or paper towel, the green coolant would show on the towel.

It does, doesn't matter now though I cut em off and have moved on. Not a biggie.

That is interesting, my car sits a lot during the winter, I usually start it once a month if the weather is good, the hoses have been on the car for almost 4 years now, and I have never seen that issue. I am using Gates Premium heater hose and running a 50/50 mix.

I was noticing the proximity to the header tube on that side, but mine are also fairly close to headers and I have not had that issue.

This is quite the mystery!

Silicone hoses & gaskets can deteriorate from exposure to 2-ethylhexanoic acid, which is in DexCool & Peak Long Life green antifreeze.
Not sure I buy that. The Cadillac Northstar has had Dex from day one (1992 or so) and they have always used a short green silicone hose below the TB because it got rather hot and access was difficult. Never saw (or any other hose on a Northstar) deteriorate due to Dex-Cool.

I understand you being skeptical. fyi- Cummins has banned all coolant containing 2-EH because "some" of their engines get the "high performance" silicon hose option....just saying.

Just another thought, are you running a high volume water pump? Just was thinking that may if you are its putting too much volume through the heater hoses or too high of a pressure in those hoses causing the coolant to permeate the hose? Also, what about the radiator cap, what pressure cap are you running?

I have had the same issue with two different vehicles within the last 30 years. Just seem to sweat out coolant while they sat.

what size lines are those

i had power sterring return lines that were sweating. they were made of heater hose

i replaced it with some Gates fuel line from Orileys. they carry 3/8 and 5/8

Switch hose brands. We used to see it on A/C hose and PS hose at the Dealer. Little green dye dots would show up. My hose is 15 years old and doesn't leak a drop. Car sets a lot as well.

I'll definitely be trying something different, got a few other things to fix first. These somewhat nice days for February are starting to get me motivated!
