i know this topic has been beat to death but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I just got my 440 built and am getting ready to put it in my 70 roadrunner. The intake manifold is stock and I have the 440 base plate. My question is what carb is the correct height and is it supposed to have a spacer? Any help would be greatly appreciated

they never came with spacers. pretty stock would have been an avs.

Thank you for the info on the spacer. I thought they may have had a thin one. I understand an AVS is stock but are all carbs the same height? I'm not doing a 100% accurate restoration but need to get the height correct so the hood will close and be functional. Thank you

Ok...I found a carb height chart. Can someone that owns an avs please give me a measurement of the height from the base to where the air filter assembly seats? That would answer my question

Note that California 383 cars had Holley's due to CA smog rules. My 70 was a CA car with a 383 and a Holley with vacuum secondaries. I have since converted it to fuel injection, but the overall carb (now throttle body) is the same height. (Of course, I use a 383 air cleaner base plate with my application.)
