I have a 67 Coronet 500, 426 hemi. The last owner sawed off the leaf spring perches. I need to find out what the factory degree angle is so I can weld the new ones on. Does anybody know what the stock factory angle should be on the Dana 60?

2-3 degree down for street use

5-7 down for performance is what I’m seeing

I only half-remember this from years ago. I'm "assuming" your trying to get as close to factory original as possible??? You might need someone with an un-modified factory car to take a measurement off of.

The part I only "half-remember" is that I "think" the angle is measured:
a) With the weight of the car on the springs, so you'd need to set the spring perches in place with the U-bolts loose, adjust, tack weld, then take apart to full weld the perches.
b) It's the angle between the nose of the pinion & the driveshaft (not vs. the ground)

Someone please jump in here if you know more about this... I won't be offended.

Thanks, for your input. I have a friend with a 66 Coronet 440 car also with a hemi, unfortunately he died and the car is apart, I flipped the rearend over out a lever on the perches at zero the put an angle finder and it came out 5 degrees, like what you said, but the welds on the perches didn't look like typical factory welds to me, but I really don't have much experience in what the welds should look like, so to be sure I thought there had to be a few guys who would know more than me. Thanks so much, I really appreciate your help!!

Good looking Coronet!
Found it in a barn while garage selling in Bellingham Wash. been sitting for 35 years. What's really nice is the block has never been bored, worst cylinder was .003 over stock others were .0015 and the block is unstamped, probably an over the counter purchase from a speed shop back in '67.

Nice! used to date a girl from Bellingham when I was at Ft Lewis in '80-'81.
