nothing earth shattering but what is the purpose of the perforated holes in headliners? hardboard or cloth/vinyl material.
 
Sound deadening is what the salesman told my father in 1963 when he was taking delivery of his new 1963 Plymouth Belvedere station wagon. It was called an acoustic head liner.
 
I'm sure it helps moisture migrate back/forth from the base, but I suspect it's there to help in manufacturing.....allow the sheet to sit flatter on the base & allow the adhesive to dry faster....just a thought
 
well it seems everybody has their own idea. your further along than me. i didn't have any idea. i have forgotten most of what ever i did know, now i don't know anything!! thanks for the replies.
