My father is putting the weather strip on the roof rail of my car and asked if I could get a picture of how it installs around the back of the quarter window. I have not been able to find a picture online of this, I don't have a car to look at locally and the body service manual does not have clear directions on what to do... Could someone with a 71 or 72 RR or Satellite snap a picture of how the top weather strip, fuzzies and everything else come together at the top of the quarter window? Does the weatherstrip need to cut off or wrap around the back of the quarter window? Thanks.

if you are talking about the top seal that runs along the metal roof rail
it just goes straight back above the window about 3 or 4 inches and just hangs out there
then you have the curved inside seals that go into the metal housing that is screwed on
and the curved outside seal that clips into the quarter (there are 2 versions of that seal i believe)

Im talking about the seal that runs along the roof rail that seals the windows when it is up fully, not the fuzzies. You can see it dissapear into the gap where the arrow is pointing. Im looking for a picture of what should happen at the corner where the roof and quarter come together. The weatherstrip kit I got has about 3"-4" extra length beyond that corner. Does it need cut so it is only running along the roof rail, or does it wrap around onto the quarter also?

that top seal goes about 2 more inches beyond what you can see
to the inside,it doesn't wrap around anything .
you can see where the fuzzy starts just below it

Flypaper-could you roll that window down and snap a picture? I too, need to see how the roof rail seal comes down. I was given the wrong seal for my '71 and was told "out of stock, need to make it" but like to know how it looks back there. I took mine out years ago and can't find the picture of it.

THANKS!!!

it might be a few days until i can get over to the car but i will
the weatherstripping is original, car was repainted once
and there is over spray showing me
that the trim was just taped off and it has never been disturbed.

Thanks !!

Flypaper, is that roof rail seal go beyond the roof rail "trim"? Or does it end right at the end of the channel (silver part)? Looks like it ends at the end of it. Some has said it went beyond 4" or so past. Thanks!

I think that the rubber seal ends right at the end of the metal rail
which does not go that far past that pinch point of that outer seal
you can see in the other pic how it is pinched in
if it goes even a inch after that would be the furthest it goes on the inside
I can go back and double check for sure.
