Have you seen some of the newly remodeled McDonalds in your travels? Apparently, they spent trillions trying to crack the Millennial code and it looks like they got it pretty close.

Millennial workers and customers hate face-to-face interaction.
Step 1, reduce human interaction:

An order of chicken nuggets, fries, drink, and two cheeseburgers will get you an FDA warning telling you that you're exceeding your 2000 calorie daily recommendation. Good thing they're watching out for your health! They really should install a floor scale which would only present a customer with a fruit cup and salad if you're over a specified weight.

Step 2, make the environment as comforting to Millennial's as possible, reduce/eliminate windows, install barriers between booths, remove trash cans (the employees bus the tables, which resembles parents cleaning up after them I guess), and play a constant stream of trash pop. Ronald McDonald or the Hamburgler are nowhere to be found. They resemble scary and racist icons that have no place in today's Millennial world.

I noticed this as well at a couple local facilities. I am only 31 and I feel like it is kinda like a prison inside. I used to like going in there and reliving going there with my gramps for breakfast as a kid. Now you don't really have to deal or talk to anyone anymore if you pay with your card.
 
Ok, I'll be the first to say it:
The one thing they really need to do is improve the quality of their food.
It's gone steadily downhill for decades now.
To top it off, I go into several local franchises of theirs as part of my job and if you could see what happens in their kitchens....
Oh dear.

Want a tip on a restaurant chain I will eat in after seeing their kitchens?
Cracker Barrel for one.
 
This is sad. I get the "modern" look but it's McDonald's...not a lawyer's office. I kinda miss the colorful themes with the cartoon mascots. I'm only 25 but the way everything is going I'm terrified of what this world will look like in another 20 years.
 
Yesterday i drove through for breakfast. When i got to the pick up window, the young man handed me the cup & bag as if it was a horrid chore he had to face. He avoided eye contact & didn't say one word. I took them & loudly said, thank you for choosing mcdonalds! Please come again. To which he responded with a feminine giggle.
 
I won’t eat McDonald’s.
It’s disgusting, relatively expensive and makes you feel like **** 10 minutes after you’re done eating.
 
Haven't eaten McDonalds products since 2000. No Burger King or Taco Bell also. If only folks knew what is in their foods they would not eat it at all. :eek:

And see, places like McDonalds were tops of the fast food world in quality at one time many years ago.
They put together the prototype of having consistency in their product no matter where you got it in the country.
Relatively speaking, in the fast food world their fries and burgers were good quality.
Not to make excuses, but a company like that gets so big that it becomes a logistics nightmare to keep the quality AND
consistency up when you have literally thousands of locations, though.
They gave up all quality in favor of efficiency in the end.
Wound up with pretty much the equivalent of synthesized, plastic-y food in the end.

In comparison, a chain like Whataburger or In-And-Out won't expand any further than they can guarantee their meat
suppliers can distribute fresh beef to because they don't want to tarnish their reputations.
They'll never be as big as McDonalds but places like that are a damn sight better in quality.
 
If they present a more sterile environment, they hope you will forget about the pink slime and meat glue they serve you.
 
we do commercial remodeling, there are 219 mcdonalds in the state of Michigan that need to be completed by the end of next year we just got on board with them our first one starts august 6th. fairly easy projects with an outside face lift new lobby with the kiosks and new bathrooms. This looks to be one of the best projects we have had in a while, last one's were dunkin dounuts, speedway gas stations, 7-elevens, and Deja-vu, to mention a few. lots of money in fast food and sex. keep buyin those burgers!
 
McDonalds has a new burger coming out called McAir, no calories and no fat with little taste. Look for it soon!
 
They can keep their new look. It's not that appealing. They fell victim and gave into the politically correct crowd and ruined itself. Then, it tried to be a Starbucks and other chain nonsense. It doesn't do that well either.
 
I was once, upon a time, a McDonalds asst. store manager. I had to go to McDonalds University in Atlanta for three weeks. They showed us the facility where they imagine the new themes and décor for future stores. They get people from stores all over the planet and bring them together and discuss and play with computer modeling. Ideas fly everywhere and they try out the best ones. It is apparent that the people they have at it now are all millennials.

McDonalds in Madrid, Spain serves draft Beer. Here in Mexico the drive-thru lane is always empty.

Haven’t had a a McShit burger since I moved to CA. In n Out is the name of the game here. Best fast food money can buy. Fresh and good as well as inexpensive and served by super service minded friendly young people. Younger than millennials - whatever you call them these days. Gen Y2K....
 
We have had those automated order stations here for a year or more, and while they are a PITA to figure out initially, they do remove the need to talk with some idiot whose words come out so fast, that they are incomprehensible. I stopped going through our local drivethru a while back after a difficult visit with some Indian twat speaking some weird language. I told him I wanted to speak with something who had a command of the English language...he got all pissy with me, told me that he was the Store manager, and slammed my burgers on the counter. He stuffed up my order, and I ended up parking outside so I could go in and have a few choice words with him. I told him in front of other customers what a rude prick he was....he asked me not to come back. My wife gets stuff at the drivethru for my kids now. :D
