The best coffee my wife and i taste ,was in a restaurant in San Antonio, the Gunter house in fact every time we knew someone ' a going to s.a we ask them for a couple of bags of coffee

The Starbucks coffee is not that bad here in Mexico they sell coffee from beans grown in the state of Chiapas (south of the country ) I recently but this one and it taste really good for a Starbucks

I always grind my own. I use a Brevelle conical burr grinder, it can be adjusted from coarse to practically fine as flour.

Been there recently and yes it was great.
 
Having lived in South America for 10 years I really got into the coffee business going to farms and eventually roasting my own. Keep in mind that the darker the roast the less caffeine it has. I always buy whole bean and grind my own.

Only if you measure your coffee by scoops. Beans that are roasted longer are less dense. If you measure your coffee by scoops, light roasted coffee will have more caffeine since the beans are denser than a darker roast. However, if you weigh out your scoops, darker roasts will have more caffeine because there is less mass.

How many do not drink coffee? There have been times when a slug of something with caffeine helped me wake up after getting to work but for the most part, just never needed it.
 
I like starfux coffee but loathe their political slant so I don't patronize their business, ,,,also too damned expensive.
Yep, fresh grind (black satin beans) & French press is the bomb!
 
I envy you guys that like coffee. To me it tastes like water poured over dirt and heated up. Then the caffeine makes me really pissed off. Same with alcohol. Someone says hey this wine is really good! I take two sips then have to force down the rest. Ugh! I can drink 10 Coke Zeros in a day.

My dad used to say “green beans will put hair on the bottoms of your feet & real men drink coffee black”. Yrs later I saw him dumping milk in the cup, he lied to me twice!
 
Your on a slippery slope …. because there is so much out there and so many different tastes. Find what you like by trying different types of roasts, grinds, coffee. I never could bring myself to buy the kind that was picked out of poo, but I hear that is a delicacy that will break the bank. I started at some place like whole foods or trader joes (but safeway, giant, Kroger, piggly wiggly etc... probably also have the same assortment of beans) and just started buying different types of beans and roasts. Grinding is also a science. I do it wrong, a fast bladed grinder rather than a slow cool grind (oh jeeze I can see the comments now). Have fun with it.
