No they are not "Rubber" Bumpers like an E-body but Rubber coated. I don't know anyone who has done a pair...

You don't have the color coded bumpers any longer ? I don't know if the original coating was a spray on or dipped process, but the coating was a thin urethane. There are a couple ways you can duplicate this other than finding a shop to spray on a urethane. You can use a professional grade stone guard that is applied under a top coat, that will give a very oem appearance, you can also use 3m flexible bumper repair. Apply a thin layer on entire bumper and sand smooth. That will take skill but it is effective. I have never tried it but I have seen comments saying to use a bed liner material. I can say with experience the stone guard and 3m material both work well.

The rubber bumpers were not with the car. That information is very helpful! Thanks for sharing your knowledge

You're welcome. I always do my best at sharing what I know.

I have a friend who has an NOS rear "rubber" bumper. I will ask him about it.. From what I remember from years ago I had one which I sold and it was not completely coated on the inside more "ran" over and around the edges and from where I could see it was a blackish material....

You're correct it was a black material. I had a Tawny Gold one that was pealing, the material was about 1/32 thick and flexible like rubber. I think they were sprayed, but once someone said they were dipped so i don't really know. Mine had rust on backside.

I wish Ray Kerkoven was still around. The man was an expert on the 71 b-body and had hundreds of NOS parts at one time, elastomeric bumpers, louvers, you name it he had it. I bought many nice parts from him.

My bumper was Hemi orange and it also had rust on backside. If it was dipped it was dipped face down and flipped or something as to not get the backside completely coated. I sent a message to my friend with the rear bumper. Don't know if he will sell or not or if he still has it as it was back in the fall last year...

Is his a Dodge or Plymouth bumper ?

Dodge rear. If he still has it maybe I can get some pics from him... Don't know yet if it is for sale...

@Nacho-RT74 can probably help on this matter !

As for rubber or metal ? I didn't think we had rubber bumpers . I was just going to strip the chrome off my bumper and body work it like the car and paint it to match !

Rubberish material coated. Never have seen one in person but found some pics of a body color keyed one with scratches and showing this coat.

I thought we had covered early in the post. Steel cores with a Black rubber coating on the outside but not completely covering the backside of the bumper. I owned one.

couple of pics, if matters or cares

Thanks to everyone! I have no knowledge on this and i appreciate your input

Yep SEMWeld is an excellent product, I've used that for bumper repair. It's the equivalent to the 3M bumper repair. I talked with Gene Gregory once and I kinda recall him telling me what he thought the manufacturer used to coat the bumpers. I shoulda wrote it down lol.
