Hello everyone,
is the 71/72 rear bumper the same as the 73-74? I know the mounting brackets are different along with tail lights, is there any difference anywhere?

The bumpers are the same. Just need to modify the brackets to adjust to your liking.

They are different. 71/72 has the indent for the emblem. 73/74 does not. The jack slot locations change, maybe a few other small details. AFAIK they will physically interchange but there are differences.

rear bumpers will interchange. '73-'74 bumpers are much heavier as they have extra reinforcement welded to the back side of them. I used a '73 bumper on my '71 for years while I waited for a nice '71 bumper to come my way.

So 71-74 rear bumper s are interchangeable the 73-74 brackets push bumper out about 3 "
You can install 71-72 brackets to fix the off set to make cars look much slicker ! Now 73-74 tail lights have straight plugs and are extremely tight but will fit !
As for front bumper s for hideaways they just bolt right up ! Yes 71-72 have that emblem on the front you can switch the stuff into a 73-74 to get rid of emblem

All bumper interchanges but:

71s got a C hook jack to wrap the bumper
72/74s got a nailed jack so bumpers got a provision for this.

NOW, rear 72 bumper got slots for this "nailed" jack, while 73/74 got an underside indent provision for it, not visible. All 72/74 got slots in front.

Brackets... front 71/72 diff from 73/74 ( already explained ) and non interchangable to the car ( yes to the bumper ) but rears all interchange cluding brackets, however 71/72 are shorter due the lack of fillers presence. Those 73/74 owners who wants to get rid off the rear fillers in the easy, needs to get 71/72 rear brackets. otherwise will need cut and weld job for the brackets.

73/74s bumpers got also internal provisions and holes for the fillers setup front and rear

There are some other diferences which actually doesn't affect on interchange process

Rear bumpers can use the earlier brackets. Fronts have to be modified/can’t swap to the 71/72s. And if your 73/74 rear brackets are nice they are worth posting for sale - originals in the rust belt are getting super crusty at this stage of the game.

As hard as it is to find 71-72 rear bumper brackets at a decent price, it's just as hard to sell 73-74 rear bumper brackets. No one wants them (maybe a few) as they all want to switch to the 71-72 brackets.
