Just got my parts from PG Classic and.......WTF!!!

That sucks a big one prop, sometimes we hard headed fools have to learn the hard way (Ive been around that bend in the road before!)

LOL.....I know, I know. You're 100% right Rev. It

Meep-Meep,

I dig and saw through rust on almost a daily basis. I've been restoring cars for a long time and by now I do understand the lovely destructive qualities of this cancer. I don't know if you and I just have different standards my friend, but there is no way this part is going on my car. A bit of sun/moisture/oxidation in between that covering/foam and the rust, and it will most certainly be delaminating apart eventually down the road. The only way to easily remove this dash pad without removing the windshield & seal and then the dash is with a sawzall and a giant crowbar. This is one feat that I don't intend to invest my time and money on. I'm not going to take that gamble. I truely hope that you have good luck with your dash pad and also hope you don't have to deal with that doomsday senario down the road.

I am not a big fan of FeO2 either but as long as it's sealed from moisture it's not an issue. I hear what you are saying and don't doubt your experience for a minute, but in my part of the world it's pretty dry most of the time. My 68 RR sat outside, and most of the time on bare soil, since the day I got it in 1982 and it only has minor pin holes in the lower quarters and the trunk floor is peppered with holes due to a leaky trunk. Neither warrant panel replacement. And yes, it also has the factory RR rust hole in the back window corner. I suppose I should have painted the back side of the dash pad to better my odds, and may still do that, but if I don't I think it will be fine.

I hear ya Meep........Unfortunately up here we deal with quite a bit more moisture. Half the time in the spring and fall, If I forget to close the garage doors, by morning even the cars in the garage will have condensation all over them. Same goes for winter.....if the garage is at outside temp and I fire up the heater, an hour later pretty much everything is metal is covered in condensation. Once the rust has started on metal in these neck of the woods, it's hard to stop because the atmosphere is so saturated all the time, it just feeds the corrosion like some sort of hungry monster. So it's pretty hard to escape from it. But I definitely see your standpoint being from where you reside at. I wish it was a bit more like that around here. I've seen your cars and work on here and you do a wonderful job with them, it's just something I can't get away with at my location. With the car being so rotton to begin with along with all the work i've put in to it thus far, it has basically turned me into the Rust Gestopo.

Well Fella's, finally heard back from the boys up north at PG. Brace yourselves for the elaborate response to my 4 page heart filled emails and phone messages I left for them.

Sorry to see the rust, but all the Dash pad they made for those year are the same . If you not happy with JUST return it. I will get you a RMA # J-38373. and please return by US post office Regale parcel sever ice. We will get you a full refund and plus the return postage.

Any idea what this space cadet is talking about? So they sent out rusty ones to everyone, or they believe in 69' they all came rusty????....No clue.
Obviously Captain Grammer here lives on the French side of the Maple leaf.... "Regale parcel server ice"..What is that? Some kind of Funky Euro Disco Drug?

Ya..ya..ya....Regular parcel I imagine. I guess i'm just picking....Being the condition I got this part in and the extent in which I relayed my concerns either via phone or email, a guy would have thought there would have been a little bit more social remorse or interaction, but then again look at the part they sent me. I never did get a chance to speak with the head cheese over there. The one time I did get through, I spoke with Peirre in returns and specified to him I wanted to talk to the Big Chief, The King Taco....The Big Kahuna... He acted like I just shot him in the foot and put me on hold to listen to Pepe Lapue talk about leg butter<-------Ya, no clue either. So, After 25 minutes of that, half a bottle of vicodin and a 357 gripped in my cold tembeling hands, the phone hangs up.

Well gent's.. i'm ready to pin a sail on the crusty pad, toss the son of a bitch in Lake Superior, hope like hell for a south wind and send it out on a fairwell cruise back where it came from..Maybe when I get home from that, I can admire my shiney new glistening "Customer of the Year" trophy from AT&T..

So thanks for the replies/support/feedback guys! Appreciate it! I guess add this one to the mounting pile of pissed off PG Classic threads. Hope it saves someone from some headaches down the road.

Dude, you could give Mark Steyn a run for his money. Oh, and he said sever ice, must be some Al Gore glacial reference.

Carry on.

Man I was gonna throw a couple more hacks at ya, but how do you compete with "Captain Grammar"?

LOL......I guess the only way to stay positive with this mess is to have a sense of humor and joggle some words around here and there..

Strange, I’ve been a customer for many years and have always been impressed by their products. I’ve ordered quite a bit of parts, for several cars and never had any issues. Just thought I’d give my input.

it was good to see an old post from propwash, seems like he always had something good to say about other people here.
