In the words of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, "Holy Jesus! What is that? What the F*ck is That???"

For those of you that have not bored yourself with my current resto thread "Family Tradition", you'll see i'm currently resurrecting a rotton 69' Roadrunner that i'm guessing came from the guts of the Titanic and contains more cancer than a 122 yr old Pall Mall chain smoker.....

After reading the good/bad reviews of PG Classic, I decided to order from them for the first time (against my better judgement). After anticipating the arrival of my parts all day, I was about a giddy as a 7 year old on Christmas morning waiting on my Red Ryder, when seeing those two boxes from Canada proped up on my doorstep. Inside my new steering wheel and dashpad for ol' Skeletor.

The steering wheel looked pretty nice..Not 100% identical, but pretty dang close. On to the Dash Pad. Opened the box and my friggin jaw just about hit the floor......Rust!!! Yes, Rust!!! The exposed metal frame/studs are rusted, and it is not a light film easily wiped a way with an optimistic finger. The worst part is, you can tell how this part was rebuilt and easily understand that the new foam/covering has been bonded right over the top of it...Yeah that's gonna last!!!

I've spent countless hours the past year in my evil lab trying to perform CPR on this Plymouth and have donated half my marriage along with tons of rust jerky to my local landfill. Now that is all gone, these clowns send me rust to put back on it. WTF!!

Obviously this piece of scrap-crap is headed back to Canada.. I immediately tried to contact PG via phone and email, but no response yet. They obviously have one seriously pissed off American to deal with when our paths finally do cross.

I do have the original pad I planned on eventually getting recovered and then hanging on to for safe keeping for down the road, but now it looks to be enlisted as the Lone Ranger, come to save the day. There isn't a faint chance in hell I would want any sort of replacement from these people, or any other part for that matter. I can't even imagine what sort of vague excuse they could toss at me to try and explain this one. Can any of you recommend a Good place to have my original redone or a replacement...Just Dashes???

Stay away from these parasites...far.....far........away!!!!!!!!

Here's a few pic's of the "turd" PG Classic was so gracious to bless me with:

Soooooo, you've been a member here for a couple of days. Got a nice thread going on your build. I'm sure you've seen a thread or two about these clowns. Yet, you order anyhow. You sir are banned from the Blue Room for a week.

I'm thinking Just Dashes is your answer. They are a bit pricey, but they do real nice work.

How did they ever have the guts to send you something like that is 100% BULL. Its hard to believe they would even try that kind of crap and expect you to think thats great? Ive seen ones like this replaced because there in just about that shape in the middle of a resto. I am sorry to hear it. Im glad im not the one in your sites when you reach them!!!

Well, I ordered the exact same pad for the exact same car from the exact same people and saw the exact same thing you did. However, the rust on the studs and the evidence of the recovering process from the back didn't bother me a bit and the pad looks great installed on my dash. I thought for the price it wasn't too bad. I also got the chrome dash bezels from them and they are perfect. The "display" seat belts are pretty good from 8 ft away being they lack the factory markings, but again, they were 1000% better than my mouse eaten originals.

LOL.....I know, I know. You're 100% right Rev. It was the Red Button Factor that drove me to do it. You know the one. The big red beautiful shiny button right in you face, but for god sakes don't push it...Yeah, I feel like an ***. I obviously pushed it. Obviously it still doesn't give them an excuse on their part. I heard just dashes is the way to go from several people and am thinking i'll be wrapping the old one up in the next few days to send their way.

Meep-Meep,

I dig and saw through rust on almost a daily basis. I've been restoring cars for a long time and by now I do understand the lovely destructive qualities of this cancer. I don't know if you and I just have different standards my friend, but there is no way this part is going on my car. A bit of sun/moisture/oxidation in between that covering/foam and the rust, and it will most certainly be delaminating apart eventually down the road. The only way to easily remove this dash pad without removing the windshield & seal and then the dash is with a sawzall and a giant crowbar. This is one feat that I don't intend to invest my time and money on. I'm not going to take that gamble. I truely hope that you have good luck with your dash pad and also hope you don't have to deal with that doomsday senario down the road.

Fella's thanks for the support.....take it from me (sucker), Stay away!!! Like your sex ed teacher told you, "abstinence is the best policy."

Sorry to hear Prop, that is B.S.. I will be interested to see how they respond to your claims. The good news is that this caused you to coin a new phrase that I love "rust jerky" How do you come up with that s*#t?

well prop, sorry about your situation. please don't judge all canuck people in the same breath as these ones. i too went to order something from them but it was on back order, thankfully. so a little research found me another place but i heard bad reports about PG and took them off my list of potential supplier's.

Their's is the same low quality chicom crap that several other "restoration parts specialists" sale. Some parts are good enough because they will never be seen. I've learned (several times actually) that you get what you pay for... IF you're lucky.

I've decided that Propwash should be crowned "KING OF ALL ANALOGIES"

Ive seen there products and it is just junk. chinese garbage. there customer service sucks too. sorry you had to go through that. also beware of Jims auto parts in NH also. my 2cents.

Thanks for the support/replies fella's......

No way I would ever gauge this horrible product in comparison to other Canadian's Shag. Just about all I've met/talked with over the years have been real great folks.

Glad you like the phrase Matt..God know's the witch's brew of words a guy can conjure up when he's boiling over. Between "The Dog" and "Skeletor", we should be able to dish out enough rust jerky to satisfy the daunting hunger of the world

I don't know if I hold the ranks to qualify for such a pinnacle title Eagleone, but I appreciate the vote. Now if it was "King of Inferior Interior", I should have no problem being awarded that title with this great product from PG Classic.

Still no word from these guys yet.......Having to make these international calls to try and remedy this shipwreck is just adding fuel to the fire. GRRRRR!!!!

Thanks Superstock!! I hear you on Jim's. Never ordered from them, but I got blessed with speaking with the old hag over there. First time the thought of striking a woman has ever crossed my mind, after that conversation. I honestly believe that broad is not human...Just a monster or some sort of squire for the devil.

I picked up the Classic Industries catalog and they list a dash pad for $260. The PG Classic part is $195. I don't know if there is any difference in quality or if they are both reprodutions supplied from the same overseas manufactor.A lot of the parts in the Classic Ind. catalog have the "Authentic Restoration" logo where as the PG stuff doesn't. Has anyone got any of the Classic Ind. parts yet. I agree with you reguarding only using quality parts on areas that will be way too much trouble to revisit later. I bought a flip top gas cap and bezel from PG off Ebay a few years ago and it is holding up well, but that is a part that could easily be changed out if it is a problem down the road.

I believe PGs are basically non "authentic" repros, where the same group sells the authentic repros through B/E/A or RT Specialties. Please excuse me if I have those names wrong, but you get my drift. PG is cheaper for a reason, and I am speaking through experience.

As for Classic Industries, they bought up the stock/rights/etc from Paddock when they shut down last year. It's a tough world out there, and sellers charge such inconsistent prices for parts from the same supplier, so you really have to be studious when doing your research. I go through Tony's Mopar in Delaware for as much used/NOS stuff as humanly possible.

It will buff right off lol, and you have had lots of practice with that wire wheel lately. Just kidding!

for the price I think its a deal. How much more is it going to rust inside the car once installed? The only thing that would concern me is how well the cover is bonded. How does it look from the top?

Ive bought some stuff from PG and its been top quality at a great price. I guess it depends on the part your buying though.

I ended up eating the shipping both ways on the rag top RR seat covers they sent that were supposed to be for a hardtop.
