In search of a gas tank for a 71 Satellite station wagon, can find lots of B body tanks but all say "except wagon", was this tank used on anything else?

Hi,

I believe the tank you're looking for would be the same for years 1971 to 1978, B-Body only though. So the following years/models:

1971-1974 Plymouth Satellite wagon
1971-1974 Dodge Coronet wagon
1975-1978 Plymouth Fury wagon
1975-1978 Dodge Monaco wagon

Good luck. I have a 65 B body wagon, and if you find a tank, it will be $$$.

Here is Lucky Costa’s solution on an earlier C body wagon:

Here's a picture of my wagon's driver's quarter panel. The fuel tank is right behind the quarter panel, even with the fuel door.

Also, a picture from the 1972 parts book. The deflector shown is facing the rear tire.

The part numbers for 1972 are:

3466153 - up to April 1972
3642170 - after April 1972

Maybe have the person go to their local dealer and have these numbers checked for supersedes up to 1978 and hopefully find a tank somewhere.

Mike.

Were you ever able to find this tank I can’t find it anywhere

Don't take this the wrong way, but....good luck. I had about eighteen tubes of JB Weld holding the bottom of my '72s tank together (brilliant design, putting it BEHIND the drive tire so every piece of road debris can TONK off the bottom and fill it with pinholes....). One day, about 10 years ago, I was doing my usual "72 satellite wagon" eBay search...and i found an NOS tank for sale. I debated the price for about six seconds, then realized I'd never find another....so I bought it.

NOT cheap.

But, it doesn't leak anymore!

I do have my old one, I can take measurements if anyone wants to fab up a new one...

The above photo, it is upside-down - bottom facing up. The port showing, is the sending unit/pickup port, in the forward face (faces the rear wheel).

My wagon tank had rust holes at the bottom, nothing worked, couldn't find one.

The area wasn't very big, so I cut it out and bought the Tanks Inc sending unit block off kit.

No leaks for years now.

You guys can try Murray Park in Ohio. Good guy to deal with and while he is into C-bodies I think he has some b-body wagons too… It’s worth a call.
