SF Deck emblem, 1 part number, 2 parts

After long looking I secured the missing third piece of my tri-color deck lid emblem! Then WTF? They only ever made 25000 of these and there are two different designs? Same casting number in the bottom too. One deep, one shallow. Looks like I’m doing some filling. Never noticed this before.

I've seen that before! never found out why they were different! Other than maybe the shallow design was Canadian!

Now that’s an interesting thought! Of course the shallow ones I have are original to a car bought in Illinois and the deep ones? Wisconsin?

I’m thinking the deep ones were difficult to cast so they made them shallow. I made a silicone mold of the shallow one and even that is difficult to fill with vacuum too.
