Saturday, I was at them MOPAR by the Lake show in Cullman, Al and a man had a set of heads with 915 casting numbers but were open chamber small valve heads. They were laying on his trailer chamber down and I got excited when I saw the paint stick 915 on the ends and really fired up when I checked the casting number but I turned them over to look at the valves and just set them back down. Was this maybe year end head as they were going to open chambers or something? Once I saw the chambers I didn't bother to take pictures because I have 906s now. just curious what it was I was looking at.

Thanks, DC

I have seen small valve non HP 915 castings but never seen 915 open chamber castings

So did the casting number on the head say 915, or did someone just write 915 on the side?

There is a small block head with a 915 in the casting number if I'm not mistaken.

Unless they were machined into open chamber heads by someone other than chrysler, they are small block heads. They were used for T.A. and other applications. I believe there were small valve versions, also.

I have 2 sets of bare 915 small valve heads for a BB, if interested.

I don't think they were machined. They looked about like the 906s on my 383. Small blocks exhaust ports are not square. If I see them again at another show I'll get pics. I figured they were some non-hp non-67 model heads.

Jerry, where in Alabama are you located? I'm in Killen.

Wetumpka, HGTV pandemonium country.

There were some 975 late model heads I believe. Maybe you got them mixed up with 915's ? 67's were 2780915.

975, that would make sense. they were dirty and had that baked on gunk so I bet you're right. the guy thought he had 915s and so did I till I turned them over.

Jerry, I have family in Millbrook. The guy that owns High Caliber in Prattville is one of my oldest friends. When we were kids we wrode our motorcycles out to Lower Wetumpka Rd to Riverside and watched the motocross races, LOL, some 48 years ago. Are you close to the casino? Next time I'm down that way I'll give you a shout. I need to get down there and go to the Catfish House, doesn't get any better. Not sure right now what I'll do about heads. I'm not in a hurry, I was just at the show and saw the 915 wrote on the ends and figured I'd look.

Going to the Catfish House Friday. I'm 3 miles from the Caniso and it's also 3 miles from my shop. Give me a shout most anytime.
