I've never done one of these earlier tags.

I just purchased this Sport Fury from the original owner.

Thanks for any help!

By the stamps on the engine pad;
V = 1964
42 = 426
HP = High Performance

1964 426 Street Wedge/365 h.P
Car would also have front sway bar and 11" brakes.

Yup. 55k original miles, 426W is what it is supposed to be.

Thanks for confirming this!

The 14 on the fender tag is 426 wedge and the 3 is four speed. Is there a 1 in front of the first 2 on the bottom row of the engine stamp?

Original owner - wow!
Yes. Parked in a garage in LA (CA) since 1968.

I'm still in awe of how unmolested it remained. And ZERO rust.

The spinner hubcaps walked away, as did the console lid and rear section.

What a find! Power windows, too! I think Plymouth called that colour Mahogany Metallic.. It was a one-year-only colour, and only on Plymouth. The 1964 sales brochure shows a car on the cover like this. A friend of mine up here in Ontario has a Windsor, Ontario-built 1964 Sport Fury in the same colour. The Canadian cars used Polara 500 seats instead of the more ornate U.S. ones. That bronze coloured interior is beautiful! You are a lucky guy to have found this. I think @dmoore would be drooling!
1126 on VIN tag is build date: November 26, 1963.

Man, I Bought my 64 Sport Fury in 1968. And unfortunately sold it 4 years later. That was a long time ago.

If you are new to this game, get to know Joe Suchy in Fairburn, Ga. He is THE 1964 Plymouth guru. He sells reproduction and used parts for these cars. He is a super guy to deal with.

I need to log on here more often! Very nice find! That color is Chestnut Metallic, VV. Tag is read from left to right and bottom to top. Scheduled production date, Tuesday November 26, 1963 (1126). Shipping order # 0143. Body type 345, convertible. Premium Vinyl Chestnut, P4U. Upper door frame white (W). 14 under AB = 426 1-4bbl 365hp V8. The 3 under C = 4-speed console. The 4 under E = power windows. The 1 under the G, AM radio. The 5 under the J = front heater w/defroster. 7 below the L, not sure. 3 under the N, back up lights. 8 under the P, dual jet windshield washer. 2 under the V, not sure. 06 under 12, Gate sequence# Lynch Road Assy Plant Mi. 157 under 567, Base Sequence # Lynch Road Assy Plant Mi. The 10, not sure. Looks like someone installed an incorrect dash pad. I see some faux wood grain on speedometer cluster. An added "FURY" side view mirror mounted in the wrong location. Power windows, (354) great option as is the 4 speed (343). Can you post the VIN please? And the all important under hood shot, numerous please. Thanks & congrats! Dave

Another side note....There were only 3 convertible top color choices offered on the 64 Sport Fury, Light blue, White & Black. As of Dec 2003 there were only 8 426 wedge convertibles listed in the registry. All 1964 426 4bbl Sport Fury convertibles were only built at the Lynch Road, Mi. assembly plant.

Thanks for the info, Dave!!!!

All the info matches the car perfectly!
The original sales contract (I have) is dated Dec. 1963
Manual steering and brakes.
White top (power)
The Chestnut paint is 100% original

Can you fill me in on the dash pad? Looks to have been there since day 1.
And yes on the woodgrain. Put there by the original owner. I'm still pondering the best thing to do.

VIN and underhood shots coming up....
