Starting and breaking in new engine on a K frame dolly

So I am closing in on the finish line on my assembly of the suspension, engine, and transmission. I am considering rigging a radiator in front and putting a short exhaust on it and doing the break in with it on the dolly. Anybody ever done that before? View attachment 1817590View attachment 1817591
I was waiting to get my 400 block back from machine shop so I started messing around with a spare k-member and before you know it I had this ready for my 470 stroker build

made a great transport stand. Returned engine to engine stand to paint, then back to cart for final assembly

I'm about to break the cam in outside the car as well. I'm not going to over think it and am going ghetto! So, my plan is to ratchet strap the K-frame and transmission to a pallet, using wood blocks as spacers, and fire it up! I just want to make sure that rear-main seal leaks before I put it in the car, ha ha ha...

I agree, who doesn’t worry about that rear seal. That looks like a good set up at least your thinking outside the box.

I'm wondering how you plan to get the K member bolts into the frame with that setup of yours !!

Simple, the lifting arms are behind. I’ve been using floor jacks all my life and decided I’m not going there anymore. Picked up 3 lifts from my friend who takes them out of shops going out of business etc around 5 years ago. Just installed them this year finally.

No need to show off !! And besides, you missed my point ... which IS: how to attach the K to the car when you have no access to the K bolt holes.

Oh **** I did. Yeah that’s better you don’t scuff the k frame. Sorry but I’m proud of my tools works good for me. You have to make life easy when you’re in your 60s. I like to see how that works out running that cam and rear seal in.
Thanks!!

Oh I blew it on that! I should have looked at k member dolly’s 1st. We ended up having to use cherry picker to lift drivetrain off the cart to install k member bolts after we dropped the body over cart as far as possible. It was a **** show but somehow it all worked out, didn’t kill anybody and not one scratch on all the new paint

Yes, I did run it on dyno 1st, but after I transferred it back to cart we ran it twice, rock solid
