The Roach

Holy crap....you get up earlier now than when you were still working.

Gave the car a wash today to clean off 5 months worth of dust and finally get the blue protective covering off of the tires.

Unfortunately, it was one of those days here where we had light on and off sprinkles, so I didn’t get to drive it, but I got the rest of the interior trim in instead.

What are your plans as far as use of this car? Is it a trailer queen? Show car? Daily (or near) driver?

My plan is C; near driver. Once I get some shakedown miles on it & I'm confident that everything's ok, I'd have no problem taking it on a couple hundred mile nice weather trip.

That's great. It is a car that deserves to be driven, and I think you'll really enjoy using it. Well done!

He's got enough garage furniture and I get that, but this car is no longer as it once was. Like mine, it was built to run a long time with little input. If we don't drive them, the next guy will, maybe with our wives!! :poke:

I had a pair of decals maid up locally to replicate the factory HEMI emblems. No way was I going to drill holes in the fenders.

Didn't I send you a set of Hemi emblems like those? I don't remember exactly which style I sent you.

Don't leave your wife unattended around Crainum or he will drive off with her,and she will want a very expensive Viper GTS when he brings her back. True story, it cost my friend a fortune!

My wife already has more than he can offer.

Haven't had much time to work on the car lately, but with the help of a friend riding shotgun with his phone GPS, I got the speedometer & odometer callibrated to within 1 mph of his phone GPS.

Got a couple bugs that I have to work through:

1. A noise & vibration coming from the steering rack when turning the wheels while not moving or at very slow speed. I was told to put some miles on it.
2. A rattle coming from underneath the car when moving & accelerating slowly at low RPMs.
3 The engine will occasionally stall when coming to a stop. I was told that the computer may have to be reflashed.
4. Rebalance the front tires.
5. Get the a/c charged.

Other than 1-3 and with the limited miles I've put on it, I'm very happy with the car.

Sounds like typical new car sorting out problems
good luck & have fun

#1, the rack deal, would make me a bit uncomfortable,
strange it only does it low RPM (I'd assume) & not moving ?
vibration ?, coming thru the steering wheel while 'not moving' ?
is something rattling/hitting it, next to it ?
wonder if the pump is cavitating ? needs to be cycled a bunch, to get out the air ?
or it needs a cooler, it's maybe getting hot & foaming up ?

#2, just curious, is there ample header, exhaust & driveline or tailpipe clearances ?
mufflers too close on the floor or something else ? wonder why only at low RPM ?

Yeah, the rack noise is the biggest issue. I have cycled it lock to lock several times to no avail. I do have a cooler on it. It’s not an RPM issue as it will do it (at a stop) with the engine revved to 2 grand.

The rattle happens at low speed when there’s a load on the engine. Got to get my friend’s car that I’ve been storing since November back to him so I can get my car up on the lift and have space underneath to work on.
