Top 3 Greatest Guitarist Ever

Terry Kath from Chicago should be in there also. Even Jimmie told Terry he thought Terry was better him.

First of all, it's David Gilmour, not Gilmore.

Tom Morello (rage against the machine) would be one of my picks. He does some unreal stuff with that instrument.

Popa Chubby - great guy, great musician. I've worked with him, Mike Zito, Selwyn Birchwood, Toronzo Cannon, Albert Castiglia, Tyrone Vaughn...there's so many great guitarists out there, right now. If you have a local music venue, check some of these guys out. They're well worth a ticket.

I'll throw a respect vote for Alvin Lee, dude is awesome..... his bassist is off the chart as well

show starts at 2:45 :popcorn2:

4 of my favorite blues/rock guitarists.

Stevie Ray Vaughan (Live at El Mocambo is an incredible performance)

Derek Trucks

Albert King:

Joe Bonamassa

Just stopping by this thread gets my heart rate up. So much talent, and instruments that can talk, scream and cry. Thank you all for posting!

Roy Clarke
Glen Campbell
Dickie Betts (Allman Brothers)
no Southern bias, :)
Stevie Ray Vaughn. Saw him in 1987 at Universal Amphitheater, Los Angeles

There are lots of "session" guys that virtually no one knows about that are GREAT.
Funny enough thats where Jimmy Page and certainly many others started out, until they found their real moneymakers.

Jimmy Page
Joe Bonamassa
Carlos Santana

John Lee Hooker
Michael Schenker
Stevie Ray

There are just to many good ones to pick a top three.

Tom

Not sure he was mentioned at all
Peter Frampton,
saw him at 'day on the green' in Oakland mid-late 70's, he stole the show

of course
Angus Young AC/DC,
a personal favorite

Elvis Presley, 'the king'
He played like 11 instruments, especially in his early years
at a seriously high expert/professional level,
1 is the acoustic/or electric guitar,
some instruments he never played on stage, just in the recording studios

For me, opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one
it comes down to what kind of music you like on who you prefer

1st I prefer 70's Rock & roll or 60's oldies rock,
2nd then C&W loved 90's country
or opinions for what musician you will say is the best,
from what genera
C&W, 60's 70's or even 80's Rock, instrumental classics,
3rd is Rhythm & Blues

the skinheads/Headbanger "Rock" or Seattle grunge crap or some disco,
but I can listen to some disco, not my favorite but acceptable on some songs 'now',
I hated it as a teen, class of 77'
but;
I can't still listen to the grunge crap/head bangers stuff (not my favorite at all)

IMO overall in my mind, it is Glen Cambell is the #1 all around

I'm not sure the name of the guy on the record my mom used to play organ to
driving me crazy...
Herb Alpert & the Tijana Brass, no idea what the guys name was but
I loved it as a lil' kid, it was mostly brass/horns etc. but the guitarist was awesome

Toby Keith, I like his music a lot, he could strum a guitar well
& sing

Don't know many of the songs 'Tesla' (used to be City Kid)
Lead singer Jeff Keith
I went to Ponderosa HS with, went to see them live,
& the guitarist was freaken' awesome
I have no idea what his name was or if he still is playing
I don't follow it much, but damn I was impressed that 1 night...
