Has anyone run the Summit Racing K6420 383 magum “restoration” cam? Any issues with quality/lifter failures?

Yes. Mine wiped three lobes and ate through the lifter on those lobes within 10 minutes.. this was 3 years ago.

You’re not asking, but I’m volunteering an opinion, get a good quality roller cam

This is quite a small camshaft.

I would rather run an older factory camshaft that
was better metallurgy if it still looked good or find a
NOS early Mopar Performance camshaft kit on the forums.

The new Chinese cams are questionable at best.

I sold over a dozen old NOS of the Mopar Perf. camshafts and kit for
about the same money and never had an issue.

I am sure there are more around to be found.

I have also had several problems with the new lifters.

I run ONLY the NOS last century Johnson HP Hydraulic lifters especially
on performance cams. I still have several NOS sets of those laying around the
shop.

I put one in my 8-1 compression 440 with melling lifters. About 1000 miles on it now, it runs great on regular pump gas.

I’m looking to put my Bee’s original numbers matching 383 back to stock while it’s mothballed on the engine dolly. In the meantime, a date correct 383/451 is the motor of choice. It’s cam is a fairly mild (236 ish/.543 lift) solid with Ron (edit-Dwayne) Porter prepped Stealth heads. I agree a roller would be nice but not an option for this build.
