383 Stroker Kit to 496

It's very confusing. I'm currently preparing a motor home 440 for my very first stroker kit. it's 440 source Part #440>>512. I spoke with a 440 source rep 2 days ago and he says/told me that the oil pick up area will need to be grinded down and some 440 blocks need nothing done to the cylinders on the 500 and 512 kits. However, each cylinder will have to checked individually to see how much material must be removed (if any) for rod clearances. Which means bolting in the crank and testing one and only one pisiton/rod at a time. And only then/after that, the block must be returned to the machinist for final hone and piston match. He says every machine shop hones the cylinders twice. Which, I've never heard of before. like an initial hone - and then after the kit arrives and clearances are grinded out.. the pistons must fitted to the block for final hone. Also my machinist secretary says the flex plate must be present for rotating assembly balancing. Another thing I've never heard of before, I know the kits come pre-balanced. so how can that be? I know a lot of shops like to have the harmonic balancer present, never heard that for a flex plate too. Anyone have info or thoughts on this stuff? I'd appreciate it, Thanks
