What's the correct ink color for a 69 440 voltage regulator.

My Gtx was manufactured in April of 69 so the voltage regulator would have an early 69 date code, but what's the correct ink color?
 
I owned an unrestored ‘69 GTX with an April build date. The voltage regulator had yellow lettering. However, this would not be considered an early scheduled build. My current car, September ‘68 build date has a reproduction with correct date code. For what it’s worth, it has red lettering. Curious to see if this might have varied by plant location.
 
According to the Dave Wise book, 68-69 ink color was red. Yellow started being seen by the 3rd week of 69.

Yellow. John Deere yellow is a good match. The "red" on the earlier units is actually hemi orange that looks red applied to the black on the VR. I respectfully disagree with the range given for red versus yellow transition.

Just my 2 cents.

What is your range?
 
I pulled a few VR from my stash and found yellow as early as 188, the 18th week of 1968. Each plant had different supplier/supply chains so to put a tight range as mentioned above is not accurate. I do agree though, by April of 1969 all plants were yellow for this model year. The GG quote above is most accurate.

If your car was built at Lynch Road, I am very confident your VR had a yellow label.

My April built '69 with the yellow lettering was a Lynch Road car. I dug up an old photo of GTX number four, another unrestored car with a September '68 build at Lynch Road. That car had a VR with red letters. It had other things found on early '69 models - chrome automatic shifter knob and inboard mounted fender turn signal indicators. Another anomaly was factory power disc brakes, even though the broadcast sheet called for drums.

His "white books" were the source for deciphering option codes before the information became available on the internet.
