We all remember The Jaguar commercial.

Got this emailed to me this morning.......

Jaguar's sales have significantly declined, particularly in Europe, with a 97.5% drop in April 2025 new vehicle registrations compared to the previous year. This decline is partly attributed to a shift to an all-electric lineup and a controversial rebrand that alienated some customers. While Jaguar aims to reposition itself as a luxury, all-electric brand, the transition has been rocky, with a near-total collapse in sales during the rebranding phase.
Here's a more detailed look:
In April 2025, only 49 new Jaguar vehicles were registered in Europe, a drastic decrease from 1,961 in the same month the previous year.
Jaguar is undergoing a rebrand to an all-electric luxury brand, which has involved a new design language and a move away from the iconic "growler" badge.
  • Customer Reaction:
The rebrand has been met with criticism and ridicule, with some industry experts calling it a "cultural vandalism" and a "destructive marketing move".
  • Price Increase:
Jaguar has also announced plans to raise prices significantly as part of its repositioning strategy.
  • Global Sales Decline:
Jaguar's global sales have also dropped considerably, from 61,661 vehicles in 2022 to 33,320 in 2024.
  • Impact on Dealers:
The decline in sales has led to a standstill in some dealerships, with the production of some existing models being halted.
  • Future Plans:
Jaguar plans to launch a new all-electric sedan in 2026, but the future of the brand remains uncertain as it navigates this challenging transition

Their ad shows exactly how they have transitioned! Their vehicles used to appeal.to well to do mature men with glamorous mature wives, now I don't know what they are trying to appeal to? Once again woke equals broke, just do the math!

Ford sold it to Tata Motors (what a name!) of India and formed Jaguar-Land Rover around 2013. Is 2013 back in the day yet?

They just get passed around the beer hall like Chrysler. :p
Ford sold it in 2008, which is more "back in the day". :)

Yes, I should have said Tata Motors purchased Jaguar Cars and Land Rover in 2008 and joined the Jaguar Land Rover Limited in 2013.

Jag sales are tanking from the threat of an all electric fleet, not the disgusting stupid add (that I never saw).
Nobody who loves Jags wants a Jag golf cart.

It's interesting. The EV fleet has not even been released yet. It would seem (reminiscent of the Hellcat, Hemi, Challenger, Charger demise), the Jaguar faithful would have rushed to buy the last fuel cars before they were gone. Instead the customers all seemed to have just walked away.

At any rate, a $200k Jaguar EV is not going to be anything like a golf cart. It will have features and power that are at premium levels. I can see today's Jag lovers getting into that, so maybe the opposite is happening and all the faithful customers are waiting for the newest thing? I mean, who wants to brag about your new Jag down at the country club when it's an outgoing model?!

If we stay away from British vehicles, we will be much happier. I have owned some early British, but not anymore.
My 1996 Triumph Trophy motorcycle is a nice bike.
Friend George has a large selection of early British, including Jaguars and other junk. I have my name on a green Healy if George croaks before me. The chassis bends and brakes on this model. It has a chunk of angle steel supporting the chassis.

The Sterling was another dud. Using the chassis and V6 driveline of the Acura Legend, Rover added a luxury interior with real wood and leather, improved the handling and added their own sheetmetal.

US sales were decent the first year (1987) but quickly went down, mainly due to British quality control and the fact that Rover designed their own wiring system rather than copy Honda's. Imports stopped after 1991.
