Hi all, out of curiosity... I'm replacing the shift shaft seal (which was completely loose) and I noticed there was an o-ring under it?

Any idea why?
Maybe it was in the seal for some reason?

Sounds a bit weird...

Thanks.

Some person with no knowledge had his fingers in there. Orange seal has no purpose being there.

Hope you're doing the throttle position shaft seal as well...while you're in there...
Unfortunately not, couldn't find it anywhere in the UK, Rockauto (which is the best place for us) don't have the item and ebay postage prices are a joke.

Jensen Interceptors used Chrysler big block engines and Torqueflite transmissions. The following Jensen part supplier, Martin Robey Sales Ltd, has both seals available in the UK:

Small throttle valve shaft seal, Chrysler 2466548

Manual Valve Shaft Seal, Chrysler 3878447 supersedes 2466842

Got to LOVE this forum, thank you SO MUCH for this. I'm glad I didn't put the pan back yet.

Life is easier when you know what/where to look at.

Ordering it right know!

Life saver! Thanks again.

All sorted!
Seal received (bought 4) and replaced.

Same as the shift shaft, something was wrong with this one... it was upside down (photo of how it was installed originally)

Thank you all once again.

Nice to do: Make sure the shaft area where the seal rides are smooth. I used a dur-burring wheel to polish mine.
