Hi all, I need a quick help/guidance here.

My 727 is leaking badly from the seal. I thought it was the shift shaft seal and was about to order one when I notice this "manual shaft seal" option? (as picture)
What's the difference? Are they the same, or completely different ones?

And do I need any other seal to be replaced, since I'm taking up this job? Thank you.

Thanks Mopar Hunter.

And before someone points it out, if choosing the same item under a different car (70 Coronet 318) it shows the same items under the "shift shaft seal", but this time including the 727. (Which doesn't show in the image in the first post)

Both of the RockAuto line item listings of "Manual Shaft Seal" and "Shift Shaft Seal" refer to the same part, apparently due to different terminology differences by the different manufacturers. Chrysler calls it the "Manual Valve Shaft Seal".

The original Chrysler part number is 2466842, superseded by 3878447 and 4505098. The seal was used in both A904 and A727 applications from 1966 into the 1990s.

RockAuto and other online application listings can be useful, but also can often be incomplete, misleading, or at times, incorrect depending on the transfer and interpretation of the manufacturer data.

If I was buying, my preference is the ATP brand for transmission items, but any of the listed seals under both designations should be good.

There is another, much smaller seal that is used on the throttle shaft, which comes up the middle of the manual shift shaft.

Thank you, that helps a lot!

Couldn't find that in the RockAuto website.

I would replace both inner and outer seals at the same time.

R/T boy 67 shows the seals you will need.
And yes change both.

Sometimes you need to use the "Rock Auto Translator" from BabbelFish!!
