Hi all,
Wanted to make a post to share my 71 Roadrunner project! I met a few guys from this site at Carlisle (Hey Hawk!), and decided to post my project here. I'm 25 and this is one of my Roadrunners.
I picked it up in West Virginia last summer, it hadn't been on the road for a long time. It was abandoned and bought a few years ago for $300 and Hemmings wrote an article on it (I'll see if I can find it). It's been through 3 or 4 owners since and it landed here with me in Delaware (I didn't get it for 300).
The car:
• Factory 383 auto but was changed to a 440 truck engine at some point
• Factory GK6 Autumn Bronze, black vinyl top, no stripe (repainted blue)
• Factory buckets and console, optioned for a dash clock
• 4 wheel manual drum brakes
What I've done so far:
• Replaced almost every piece of wiring because it burnt up
• Rebuilt the gauge cluster and put a better dash pad on
• Put the back window back in
• Replaced the grille
• New intake, carb, and some engine dressup
• New slot mags and tires
• Rebuilt the brakes (Lines, cylinders, master cylinder)
• New radiator
• Probably a lot of other little things too
It fell short of making it to Chrysler Nationals because of a leak in the transmission that we discovered too late (the day before lol). Hoping it will be on the road shortly, and I can make some progress on the body work!
These first pictures here are when I brought it home
