Need help identifying a rear end size in a 66 fury that I'm considering buying. It's a project car for sure - and the guy selling it doesn't have much info on it. He claims it's a 383 car, but the motor is long gone. On the plus side, the rest of the car looks complete w/ minimal rust. Does anyone know what rear would've came in a 66 fury. It's a fury III if that matters. At least that's what he says it is. There's only a bill of sale which is my only other concern. It looks to be very complete/unmolested from the pics he posted. Well, except for the missing motor. Appreciate any and all input on this. I live in Cal. He says very easy to get a new title. but I don't know if that's true. $2000 is a lot of doe for a car that can't be registered.

The wording above looks like a "cut and paste" job.
A Fury 3 most likely would have come with an 8 3/4" axle with either 2.76 or 2.94 gears.
I don't think that they ever came with a Dana 60 and I'm pretty sure that the 1966 models never got a 9 1/4" axle.

The title is a much bigger issue than the rear end.
Why are you asking about the rear axle?

Since it's not an RB 4 speed car, it would not have the Dana 53 . It would have to be an 8- 3/4.

NOTHING is easy at a california dmv!!!.
Make a dmv appointment, ask them FIRST about a title before you do anything regarding the Fury. (I assume it's a non-california car?) Nightmare potentially coming!
And you're considering buying a car not local to you, off of PICTURES?!?

Was asking about the rear axle because he doesn't know and I cant see the rear in any of the pictures. Yeah, I Agree about the tittle issue. He says it's no problem. So I offered him an extra $200 to put it in his name and sign it over to me. He says he'll think it about. So, It doesn't look like its gonna happen. I have a couple of 8-3/4 sure grip centers. I wouldn't be interested at his price if was an 8-1/4 or smaller. Looks like it wont happen anyway. Thanks bro.

Yeah, I typed it - re-typed it - switched it around - re-typed it again. I got turrets really bad and stress over my word usage.

It's a california black plate car. Looks really clean and straight. but DMV won't give info on car until I come in with bill of sale and vin#. The whole thing is too much for me. I offered an extra $200 if he puts it in his name and signs it over to me. He says it's easy for me but he won't do it. Or he said he'd think about it. He lives in the city, so, easier for him than me to do it, than me. Something is wrong I think. Knowing it has a 8-3/4 rear makes me want it. but I'm not driving away with a car and no tittle. Thanks man.
