Hacked up original a12 air cleaner???

Hey guys, I just picked this up today, I believe it's an original a12 air cleaner, looks to me like the entire base has been cut away. Just wanted to make sure it was an a12 air cleaner and not for something else. Thanks for any info.

Decals look right for an A12.
Somebody just made a $2000 aircleaner into a $100 aircleaner.

Common thing.

When they are cut, it does show off the carbs better. And it makes tuning adjustment a little handier.

I believe they're saying it's the same animal, with the rectangular part cut off.

I think it's worth more than that, to a guy with a Sixpack in a non-sixpack car, who wants an aircleaner but doesn't need a specific high dollar piece.

Probably pay to make sure your tetanus shots are up to date before restoring that piece.
