So, I often click on an interesting click bait online short videos. I get that ultimately money is the goal of the creator.
Ads certainly enhance that task.
However, why can't it be disclosed on the opening screen how many ads and total time a viewer is going to be subjected to ads in the video, and we get to decide for ourselves if it is worth our time?
Face it, the viewer is going to find out eventually anyway, this mandated pre disclosure requirement would reduce the the viewer's feelings they watched an ad, that had some interesting content tossed in.
The fact that content creators and other non-viewers would likely hotly contest the requirement, pretty much justifies the disclosure requirements worth.
I don't like being tricked.
The cost/effort to incorporate/disclose the number and length of inserted ads would be minimal and a onetime expenditure.
Not a big favor of more requirements/regulations, but this one would give me back some control of what I decide to view and best spend my time.
At some point if this trend continues, I'll just stop watching videos altogether. Right now, I just boycott the owners of the most obnoxious repeated ads, slick or not.
What say you?

For people who don't know what browsers work, or want to pay for ad blockers.

There's fast forward on TV now...why still run ads there?

It's a numbers game.

Ok, so why does everyone watching have to take an active roll to avoid the intrusion vs a simple regulation that would advise in advance what the intrusion will be in the video and let the viewer decide on a case by case basis, at I suspect a whole lot less overall cost overall, or is that asking too much from those with that power to regulate??

There are ad blockers that fix this
The best ad blocker to use at FBBO and other sites in the group is called "Gold Membership"

For a mere $50 a year - equivalent to one cigarette every couple of days.... you get freedom from annoying advertising plus all the Mopar knowledge a man could consume in one hundred lifetimes.

Asking the government to do something you can easily do for yourself...yea...that always works out SO well....

I suppose you home school, have your own library, septic tank, well, fire pit, water tank to fight fires, inspect your own food supply, and all offspring are born at home thinking?
I'm impressed.

If I had kids I'd home school.

Well and septic, check.

I do everything I can for myself. But when it comes to "too many ads" on the Internet? I go to another site. Pretty simple.

I also use a browser that blocks most ads (duckduckgo), as well as their video player instead of viewing on YouTube. It's amazingly simple - download the browser, select "use duck viewer for videos"...and enjoy.

The fact you equate those massive exercises to home birth, off-the-grid, prepper type living.... worries me.
